FAA 8710 flight time summary: prepare known totals without guessing
The FAA 8710 preparation workbook is an arithmetic worksheet for checking your own records. It is not the FAA application, an IACRA submission or an eligibility decision.

Include the dimensions you need
Use the Category and Class source columns to group flight time. Missing category or class stays labeled UNKNOWN. The converter does not infer single-engine, multi-engine, airplane, rotorcraft or simulator credit from an aircraft model. Complete those source fields yourself when you have verified them.
Read the coverage columns
The workbook shows all-flight totals and totals grouped by the exact source category/class labels. For each component it shows decimal hours, H:MM, rows with a source value and flight rows. A partially populated component is a known subtotal. Actual, simulated and generic instrument are kept separately to prevent double counting.
Transcribe deliberately
Compare each worksheet subtotal to the relevant application field and its instructions. Requirements can depend on aircraft category/class, certification basis, role and the purpose of the application. Obtain the current form instructions and resolve eligibility with your instructor or examiner; the converter does not decide which time qualifies.
Keep supporting detail
Download the full XLSX alongside the summary. It contains normalized flights, time totals and reconciliation findings. The report is based only on supplied records and may include unresolved warnings you accepted. Do not present it as an independently audited or certified record.
